Ben Fouhy Medal Ceremony, Athens 2004

Ben Fouhy was in good stead in the lead up to the Athens 2004 Olympic Games having won the English K1 1000 title. At Athens he won his heat and paddled well in the final finishing strongly in a time of 3:27.4 toclaim the Silver medal. The Gold medal was won by Norwegian legend Eirik Larsen.

The Olympic silver medal, which would have delighted most competitors, was a disappointment to Fouhy, who for a time after the Athens 2004 Olympics contemplated giving away his sport and turning to cycling.
