New Zealand enter the Stadium at the 1948 Olympic Games

After a hiatus of 12 years of 12 years caused by the outbreak of war, the 1948 London Olympics were the first held after WWII and the first since the divisive 1936 Berlin Games.

In 1948 New Zealand fielded a team of seven athletes:

Harold Nelson – Athletics 5,000m & 10,000m
John Holland – Athletics 400m hurdles
Doug Harris – Athletics 800m
Bob Goslin – Boxing 57kg
Nick Carter – Cycling Road Race
Ngaire Lane – Swimming 100m Backstroke
Maurice Crow – Weightlifting 56kg
